Consisting of the battery (snares, tenors, bassline, and cymbals) and the front ensemble or pit (mallet percussion and auxilliary percussion equipment), the marching band percussion section is one of the three main sections of the marching band. This group practices extra hours as it has an extra competition in the early season designed for the percussion section only. In the past three years, the percussion section has routinely earned a rating of excellent as well as recieving percussion caption awards at competitions.
